Yom HaShoah Program - Holocaust Remembrance
The Holocaust: Crisis of Faith - The Problem of Evil
We have a very interesting program this year, to be held in the Social Hall. The following schedule is an approximate guide to the evening events:
6 pm - covered dish dinner;
7 pm - Stephanie Woods is our guest speaker. She teaches Holocaust studies at the local high school, and is an active member of both the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and the NC Holocaust Council. She is a dynamic speaker, and we are pleased to have her join us to talk on current activities and programming at the USHHM and the Council.
7:45 pm - dramatic reading of Elie Wiesel's play "Ani Ma'amin", the theme of which is the crisis of faith for the Jewish people (and all peoples of faith) who lived through the Holocaust.
8:30 pm - Havdalah service, followed by a discussion of Elie Wiesel's play and the crisis of faith in God in the face of the unspeakable horror of the Holocaust.
